CHITARRA JAZZ E IMPROVVISAZIONE MELODICA è rivolto a chi vuole approfondire lo studio della chitarra jazz e dell’improvvisazione melodica in generale.
Dopo alcune sintetiche premesse teoriche, vengono presentati 32 esempi, divisi in 4 gruppi, che mostrano come ottenere tensione e risoluzione nell’improvvisazione a note singole.

I 4 studi melodici, basati sulle progressioni armoniche di “Autumn Leaves”, “All The Things You Are”, “On Green Dolphin Street” e “How Insensitive”, oltre ad essere utili a livello tecnico, illustrano come utilizzare semplici materiali ritmico - melodici, per improvvisare in varie tonalità e su armonie più complesse.

MELODIC IMPROVISATION FOR JAZZ GUITAR is a short and condensed method designed to improve intermediate students’ knowledge of and ability to play ‘tasty’ single note lines. In particular, it focuses on the concept of tension and resolution, so important in Jazz styles like Swing, Be-Bop, Hard-Bop, Bossa-Nova and Fusion and how to apply this fundamental technique to single note soloing.

This method includes four chapters, each with a theoretical introduction, followed by eight examples of how to improvise over the II-V-I progression in different major and minor keys and ending with a ‘written’ solo over the chord changes of a renowned Jazz classic.

The 32 examples and four melodic studies contained herein show how to use diatonic arpeggios and chromatic approaches while improvising. Three different rhythmic divisions are also put into practice: eighth notes (Chapter one and two), triplets (Chapter three) and sixteenth notes (Chapter 4).

The four melodic studies are based on the following Jazz classics:

—Autumn Leaves (Chapter one)

—All the Things You Are (Chapter two)

—On Green Dolphin Street (Chapter three)

—How Insensitive (Chapter four)

Written music on a staff, tabs and fingerings are all included in this method. Furthermore, there are free video tutorials available on the author’s YouTube channel (quendamusic) that allow the student to listen to and see the fingerings of the 32 examples and four melodic studies, as well as get further theoretical instruction and useful technical tips.
